Verse of the Day

LAKE MARY, FL—A few minutes before going onstage, singer and songwriter Christine D’Clario had a vision from God. She saw snapshots of her day, looking down at herself from a tall place, and watched herself get ready for the day, be interviewed, and sign autographs. Then she felt God say to her, “I delight in you!” D’Clario could hardly believe it.

In Prodigal Heart D’Clario shares what she has learned about overcoming grief, pain, and a sense of worthlessness. Each chapter concludes with what D’Clario has learned from her hardships as well as a prayer and Bible verses to hold on to during the process of healing and growth.

“The sovereign, eternal God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the most high King, of greatest power, worthy of all honor and glory forever told little ole me that He delights in me,” D’Clario says.

Though she is now an award-winning Latin contemporary Christian music artist and worship leader, D’Clario experienced severe depression in the past and suffered rejection, loss, and temptation.

“Walk with me through the pages ahead as I give an account of God’s work in my life. In this book you will see beyond the artist and leader who takes people into God’s presence through worship; you’ll see why I do what I do,” D’Clario says.

This book is for all those who believe their lives are broken beyond repair and for those who think their scars are too deep to be healed. D’Clario’s story demonstrates the power of redemption and proves that any life is worth saving.

“[God had] been patiently waiting for me to give Him the chance to show me and teach me to stop looking at my own broken desires and start looking at Him.…He made me know for the first time in a long time that there was indeed still hope for a wretch like me,” D’Clario says.

D’Clario is a New York-born singer and songwriter of a Hispanic mother and an American father. As a child she moved to Puerto Rico, where she studied music at the Inter American University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Full Sail University in Florida. D’Clario is a Grammy and Dove Award nominee. She’s part of the worship team at Gateway Church in Dallas, Texas, where she lives with her husband, Carlos Cabán.

LAKE MARY, FL—Take a deep breath and ask yourself: “What exactly am I inhaling?” It could be the air fresheners that coat your nasal passages with an oil film called methoxychlor or the waft of furniture polish that contains a chemical called nitrobenzene. Or you could be breathing in the fumes of a bleach-based cleaning powder with a carcinogen known to increase chances of getting cancer, asthma, and reproductive disorders.

In her book Everyday Natural (Sept. 5, 2017) Jacqueline Ritz, founder of The Paleo Mama blog and an expert of the “cave man” diet, acknowledges that just as what we eat is important so is what we breathe.

She offers five simple steps to detoxing the home and ensuring a safer, cleaner environment. The book includes natural, environmentally safe substitutes for commercial, chemical-laden cleaning products. Ritz shares recipes for homemade laundry detergent, house cleaners, and essential oil diffusers that help purify the air and boost the immune system.

Ritz says, “It will soon be time to pull out the cleaning supplies and freshen up the house with some good old spring cleaning! And therein lie some of the most toxic and dangerous chemicals we will encounter. Not only are these chemicals taking a toll on our bodies, buy they are also taking a toll on our home environments as well.”

Everyday Natural breaks down the journey to the self-sustainable lifestyle into easy DIY steps. Ritz also offers insight for dealing with weight issues, maintaining a healthier diet, and reaping radiant skin using homemade body care wonders. For those who feel sluggish and want to lead healthier lives or also those intimidated by the modern homesteading movement, Everyday Natural reveals how easy it is to live a natural, healthy life of abundance.

Ritz says, “So many of us lead busy lives, and the habits we have used to care for our homes are sometimes not the healthiest or safest. It is my recommendation that you begin your journey to a more natural home environment by simply changing a few home-care habits.”

She also encourages readers to occasionally air out the house, opening the windows and doors for about five minute—even in winter.

“Your walls and furnishings will retain the heat, so your home will be toasty warm again soon, and the air quality will be greatly improved,” Ritz says.

Ritz is founder of The Paleo Mama blog, an essential oil educator, a DIY guru, and a student of herbal medicine. Not too long ago she talked her husband into giving up their big-city life to buy some goats and chickens. The rest is history! She has had a strong desire to raise her kids in an environment where they could learn to love and appreciate this beautiful world and where they could get back to the simplicity of living a more natural life.

Lake Mary, FL—Harper’s Bazaar magazine calls it “the latest cleanse craze that’s low in sugar, will keep you full all day and is Gwyneth Paltrow-approved.” Tech Times calls it the diet trend of 2017. Companies have cropped up to sell brands for those who are opting out of the homemade route. TV chef and celebrity nutritionist Cherie Calbom, also known as “The Juice Lady,” testifies to the value in this new health trend, called “souping.”

“You can sip your way to a slimmer you because soup is filling and nourishing. Soup is a way to pump up your metabolism and keep fit. And it’s excellent for the immune system,” she says.

In her book Souping Is the New Juicing (Sept. 5, 2017) Calbom joins the movement in providing insight on soups that enable weight loss, internal cleansing, healing, and renewed energy. Recipes can be customized to be gluten-, dairy-, sugar-, and soy-free. From Yummy Yam Bisque to LemonGarlic Soup, the various broths are easy to make, nutritious, and appetizing.

Having been featured in national publications such as Woman’s World magazine and the Los Angeles Times, Calbom is a leading authority around the world on health and detoxification. She has shared her insights on the healing power of juicing and souping.

“Your birthrights are abundant health and the joyous living it brings,” Calbom says.

She emphasizes how slurping down soup and ladling some out for friends and family slow down a fast-paced life and allow for reconnecting with others.

“Soup is not simply good for the body; it is also good for the soul,” she says.

Calbom’s book also reveals how she found restoration and healing from pain through emotional and physical detoxing. Her healing journey meant not only fasting from certain foods but also letting go of toxic emotions that were wreaking havoc in her soul.

“When I think about soup, the first word that comes to my mind is “comfort,” she says. “I’ve had more serious challenges as an adult, times when I needed a huge bowl of comfort that included but reached far beyond a bowl of soup. I share my stories with you to give you hope that you can overcome whatever challenges you face.”

Calbom has helped pioneer the fresh-juice movement around the world. A graduate of Bastyr University with a master of science in whole-foods nutrition, Calbom has authored thirty-one books. She has helped thousands of people restore their health through her juicing and cleansing programs. She has worked as a nutritionist with George Foreman and Richard Simmons and has been on numerous radio and TV shows and in scores of magazine articles. She and her husband offer Health and Wellness Juice and Raw-Foods Retreats throughout the year.
